About The Rainforest Conservation Fund
www.rainforestconservation.org
The Rainforest Conservation Fund was founded in 1988 to increase public awareness of the dangers of rainforest destruction, raise money to protect endangered rainforests, and suggest practical steps toward conservation of these precious natural resources. The organization is working to expand the Reserva Comunal Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo in the Peruvian Amazon. This is one of the largest communal reserves in South America, and one of the most biologically diverse in the world, supporting 14 species of primates, the most ever recorded.
About World Land Trust-US
www.worldlandtrust-us.org
World Land Trust-US provides the opportunity to buy rainforest land and establish new protected areas that conserve rainforest and other sites of high biodiversity value. Their projects target lands that conserve rare or endangered species, and are low in price, so that a minimum amount of funds protect high priority areas. Since its founding in 1989, World Land Trust-US has raised over $2 million, of which less than 2% has been used for administrative and fundraising overhead. They have played a central role in the creation of new protected areas in several countries, including Colombia, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Guatemala, Argentina, Chile, and others, working with local organizations to purchase and conserve lands that are extremely high in biodiversity.
About Rainforest2Reef (formerly Friends of Calakmul)
www.rainforest2reef.org
As rainforests disappear at an unprecedented rate, tropical deforestation is now one of the leading causes of both global warming and species extinction. With so much on the line, saving the threatened ecosystems of Mexico and Central America has become a top priority for conservationists.
Rainforest2Reef's mission is to protect biodiversity, maintain ecosystem services, and slow climate change by safeguarding tropical forests, coral reefs and the corridors connecting these threatened habitats.
Rainforest2Reef has already saved over 300,000 acres of rainforest, thanks in part to your clicks!
