The Caridad Center in Boynton Beach, Florida has given a second chance to Rosa Flores. Flores was an uninsured breast cancer patient who couldn't afford her mastectomy operation when the Center offered to perform her surgery free of charge, according to SunSentinel.com
Rosa Flores was diagnosed with inflammatory breast cancer, one of the most dangerous and invasive forms of the disease. The pain in her breast was so intense, Flores turned to the Caridad Center for help and was introduced to Dr. Marla Dudak, one of the volunteer doctors for the clinic. Dudak performed the surgery for free and greatly increased Flores' chances for survival. Rosa is still in treatment, but the generosity of the clinic and those around her have given her the will to keep fighting.
The Caridad Center will continue to offer care to uninsured patients like Rosa and is always accepting donations to help those in need.
According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women excluding skin cancer.
