Polka-dotted caravan raises money for breast cancer

Trelise Cooper, a fashion designer and breast cancer advocate in New Zealand plans to hit the road this summer in her mint-green retro caravan to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Trust.

The caravan has been restored to it's original condition and is decked out with mint-green paint, polka dots, planter boxes and a bicycle. Cooper took it upon herself to find donations to restore the caravan and to raise money for breast cancer patients and survivors by spreading awareness everywhere the polka-dotted trailer goes, according to New Zealand's News 3.

Thus far, 10 holiday parks have pledged $1000 to have a visit from the caravan and another 300 campgrounds have donated $1000 each.

Cooper's initial target was $3000 and she has far exceeded that goal. Cooper will drive the caravan across New Zealand for the summer and auction off the prized piece at the end of the season. All in all, a charming excursion for Cooper has turned into a fundraising success for Breast Cancer Research Trust.

According to the American Cancer Society, the chance for a women developing some form of invasive breast cancer is 1 in 8.
